Self-representation In a Divorce Action

There is no requirement that parties to a divorce action hire an attorney to represent them during the divorce proceedings. Either party or both parties may represent themselves during their divorce proceedings. Whether one chooses to represent themselves or hire an attorney, is a personal choice. One should weigh the advantages and disadvantages involved in self-representation.

Notice Requirements, Leave, and Enforcement of the Family Medical Leave Act

The employer is required to keep and post a notice of the FMLA requirements in an open and obvious location for its employees to see. The notice should contain information about filing complaints if the employer fails to comply with the requirements of the FMLA. The information should also address issues regarding the employee's rights and the employer's obligations under the FMLA.

Foster Children

A child may be removed from a household if they are abused, either sexually or physically, or neglected. The child may be neglected in that they are not provided with their basic needs such as food, shelter, and emotional stability. The goal for the foster child is that the child be cared for by capable foster parents for a temporary period of time.

Child Support Enforcement and Paternity Issues

At common law, a putative or alleged father of a child produced out of wedlock had no duty to support that child. However, the statutory law changed the common law and required both parents to support the child.
